I have been taking the challenge of creating grouping of artwork together to create gallery walls ( salon walls ) with my artwork and prints mixed with fab finds in Thrift stores .
Any room looks better with an eclectic mix of art collections or accessories. I believe that if you pick what you really love and feel inspired by , no matter what , those pieces will go together well. Rooms should reflect your unique personality , Make it YOURS!
If you are new to art collection or gallery wall setup , here is an idea for you , find a Theme or a connection and it will get you started.
It can be a color palette , a topic , shape ,a collection of some sort...they will complement each other.
My small gallery wall here depends on 2 factors , Color and topic.
I Painted those doors after moving to Canada as they reminded me of the old houses I was so fond of in my beloved city Alexandria Egypt. I can only think of Mediterranean blues when it comes to Alexandria .
The tiny door sculpture I found in one of my favorite thrift stores is Waterloo @perfectfindthrift for only 3 $! It fit right in with my small door paintings collection.
I love the concept of a story behind each door and the opportunities they represent . I am a thrift hunting addict , it's like searching for the diamond in the rough . Vintage pieces come with a mystery and stories that enrich and enliven the things around them.
I needed a small piece to complete the visual square without suffocating the composition so I added a small calligraphy on an abstract background that had a similar color palette to my other pieces.
And there you have it , a bare wall turned into a treasured spot as eclectic as the memories that inspired it.
